Saturday, June 2nd is National Trails Day AND Clean the Bay Day.
The Clean the Bay Day program starts at 10 a.m. at the Farmville Main Street plaza. Any interested participants will walk down the trail to the bridge that crosses the Appomattox River at River Road. Representatives from the Friends of Appomattox River (FAR) and the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District (PSWCD) will be on hand to share information. The program will focus on the health of the Appomattox River and how that relates to the Chesapeake Bay. We'll talk about watersheds, the Appomattox River watershed in particular, the impact that we have on its health and what we can do to minimize that impact. Remember to bring drinking water.
