The Battle Below High Bridge & The Wagon Bridge Breach

Relive a time in history when the North and South were battling for control of High Bridge during the end of the Civil War by joining us on Sunday, March 15, 2015 for a guided tour below the soaring spectacle of High Bridge. Start your journey from the River Road parking lot at about 1:30 p.m., walk to High Bridge, and meet our guide at the approach of the bridge at 2 p.m. From there you will cross High Bridge and access the river from the Prince Edward side of the trail. You will be astonished by the scale and scope of High Bridge from this unique perspective. Be prepared for a 4 mile round trip from the parking lot, to the underside of High Bridge, and back to your vehicle in inclement weather. Bring plenty of water, and wear sturdy shoes, as parts of the trail will be steep.
